Pop Up Poetry 04.18.2015

Better late than never! I wanted to give you guys another peek into my event this last weekend during our glorious 70-degree sunny weather. 🙂 I set out to perform Pop Up Poetry at two locations on Saturday: first at Broadway Coffeehouse in the late morning/early afternoon, then to Archive Coffee & Bar in the evening. My first time performing a Daily Double, I am merely thrilled that I managed to survive! It was incredibly fun, as always, and I got to meet some wonderful people who were so kind to share their stories with me. Thanks to each of you for giving me a priceless gift time and time again! Hope to see you again soon!

Some Pop Up poems below in order of creation…Hope you enjoy!

Writer’s Oasis

The beginning of a new chapter for #RhetoricalRedhead. I don’t believe in coincidence when things line up so perfectly, and when I begin meeting people I didn’t even know I needed on this journey. I have to take a step back, breathe, and tell myself, “Yes. This is happening.” And embrace it. On that note, I have waited for a year for Archive Coffee & Bar to open, for I desperately needed a place to host my creative mornings, afternoons, and evenings. They are doing something incredible here, and I’m honored to witness it. IMMENSE gratitude to you all at…

Where I Go

Back to reality today after a glorious weekend in #CannonBeach. So fun to see other writers participate in #WhereDoYouGo…divulging that special place which refuels them. (Keep ’em coming!) There is something about this particular coastal town that just gets under my skin and invigorates my marrow. It consumes me and awakens my writer soul. There is no other place which inspires me more. In other news…my hair grows about 10″ every year. And it shows. #nojoke #miraclegrow #holymotherofpearl #haircutanyone

Where Do You Go?

“People have a great need to know there are still places on this earth that can be called wilderness. Among the privileged regions of our world where we can still find these hideaways is the place called ‘Oregon.’ Here the theatre of the wilderness is a living presence.” -Paul M. Lewis- I come here to recharge. To replenish that which the world takes from me. I contemplate. I walk. I muse. I find inspiration in the scenery and the town and its people. I read. I write without expectation and it flows with ease. It gives me a sense of…

Pop Up Poetry: “Polar Bear on a Pogo Stick”

Surprise #PopUpPoetry moment…Struck up a conversation with a guy at a coffeeshop. Turns out he’s a writer too. He jokingly tossed out, “So you’d write about a polar bear on a pogo stick if I asked you to?” I laughed with him. But he wasn’t expecting me to actually deliver. Should’ve seen his face. So great chatting with you, Erick. Best of luck in your ventures! #ladyofmyword #neverbackdown#youvebeenwarned

The 2014 Boys & Girls Club Civil War Dinner & Auction: A Rhetorical Redhead Report

A last-minute invitation from a dear friend awarded me the chance to attend this year’s annual Boys & Girls Club Civil War Dinner & Auction at the Salem Convention Center this Thursday evening.

Being Civil War-themed, attendees were encouraged to fly their colors to support their favorite Oregon university: University of Oregon with their green and yellow, or Oregon State University with black and orange. Naturally an Oregon Duck, I ran home after work to hurriedly don my loud, bright yellow Oregon volleyball jersey and throw on my running tights before dashing back downtown for the festivities. Surrounded by friends and a hot date on my arm, I waltzed into the Convention Center to see what the hubbub was all about.

Summer Vacation 2014

I think this pretty much sums up why I’ve been MIA for almost a week…saying goodbye to summer in only the best of ways. Thanks for your patience, everyone. ❤ Poems to come soon!

Vacation in Seattle

Vacation, I’m ready for you. Come kidnap me.

Writer’s Escape

Never be too busy taking care of others in such a way that you forget to take care of yourself…. Reconnecting with *me* tonight… ‘Well hullo there. It’s been a while. Pull up a bench. Let’s write.’ ….Mmkay. 🙂
