Pop Up Poetry 02.28.2015

Poems and backstories behind tonight’s Pop Up Poetry gig on location at Archive Coffee & Bar…

Archive’s decor and overall theme just makes me giddy with nostalgia of a bygone era. It always provides with the perfect mood and atmosphere. Combined with excellent coffee, craft cocktails, and delicious food…it will forever be one of my favorite haunts. So thrilled to be doing Pop Up Poetry with them.

Pop Up Poetry: “Family”

I never turn down anyone. I love you people. All of you. Come…talk with me. Tell me your story; I want to hear it. And, if I may, I will memorialize it for you because your life is just as beautiful as the next.

Lovely meeting this little family of three–mom, dad, and 3-month-old Vincenzo. Hope to see you guys in Portland sometime!

Our Impossible Story

“Our Impossible Love” by #JessicaMurdoch the #RhetoricalRedhead. A snippet of our story.❤ On behalf of the day of St. Valentine…Love should be easy. But Love also requires some work. Love is not just an emotion, but also an action…a CHOICE…a daily effort to give yourself completely to another person without expecting anything in return. If you put forth the effort, and work hard to be partners in everything, it will be easy. If the effort isn’t there…love fades and resentment grows. Marriage is different than engagement is different than dating…it’s fascinating how a relationship can grow and deepen. We have experienced all three and there’s no going back, only forward. We learned the hard way that Love and Respect are paramount…Love needs nurturing; it takes two giving 100% on both sides. My dear, I meant what I said in my vows…and no matter how much pain I was in, I knew you were struggling with the same thing I was battling against. And I had to stop wallowing; we needed to lean into each other more than ever if we were to pull through. Look at us…how we were on the brink of divorce, but we survived by the sheer grace of God. We stopped, and made a choice. We decided to stop pitying ourselves and chose to reexamine each other’s pain. Dear reader…lifelong love isn’t about the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when they are around (although it’s certainly nice)…it really is about sacrificing yourself daily…choosing THEM daily…giving unconditionally to the other simply because their happiness is that important to you. Love is easy. Love is hard, too. But the hard-fought battles are the ones worth telling when you rise up victorious despite all the odds and all the doubters whispering in your ear…and we had plenty, let me tell you. But I’m a believer now. I believe in True Love. We fought hard for it and earned it when the dust settled. Love always wins when you give it a chance. Even when it hurts. Especially when it hurts. Here’s to us, babe, and to all you lovers out there…be you single, dating, engaged, married, divorced, widowed, separated…don’t give up. Love and keep loving. ❤❤❤
